Your Ski Cooper Pass Also Works at Monarch, Loveland and Sunlight This Winter

"With the recent heat wave and an increasingly thin snow base, we've had to make the difficult decision to close for the season."

Ski Cooper posted that closing notice on March 19, 2026, and the mountain closed for the season on Sunday, March 22, after what it called a historically low snow year. Cooper wasn't the only one. The Colorado Sun reported that skier visits across the state fell 24% to 10.5 million in 2025-26.

So the question for a Leadville skier this fall is how many good days the pass can buy across the whole winter, beyond the home hill. The 2026-27 Cooper season pass covers more ground than most people give it credit for. It comes with three free days at each partner resort, and three of those partners are in Colorado. Those days fall in the two places where Cooper's own calendar runs thin: the early weeks before Tennessee Pass opens, and any spring that ends sooner than planned.

What the Pass Costs Now, and What Comes With It

The adult season pass for ages 22 to 68 sold for $499 through September 30. Since October 1 it has been $599, and it stays at that price through the end of the season. Passes for ages 15 to 21 are now $379, and passes for ages 6 to 14 are $279. Every one of those tiers comes with partner benefits.

Seniors should read the age bands closely. Cooper sells a $25 pass for ages 69 to 74 and a pass for 75 and up that costs only a $10 processing fee, but neither includes partner days. Skiers 69 and older who want the Monarch, Loveland and Sunlight days need the version with benefits, which is priced the same as the adult pass. Ages are counted as of December 1, 2026.

The pass pays off at Cooper itself, too. Day tickets for 2026-27 are held at last year's prices: $49 for adults on non-holiday weekdays and $99 on weekends, holidays and spring break. They go on sale November 1. At those rates, the $599 pass equals about a dozen midweek days or six weekend days at Cooper alone. The partner days push past that.

The Three Colorado Partners, Side by Side

Cooper's 2026-27 partner page lists Monarch and Sunlight as direct reciprocal partners. Loveland comes in through Cooper's membership in the Powder Alliance. Here is how the three compare.

Resort How the Cooper pass gets you in 2026-27 adult window price Opening Limits to know
Monarch Direct reciprocal partner $119 to $179 depending on date, $149 standard Check Monarch's site $5 RFID card on the first visit; no blackout dates listed on Cooper's page
Loveland Powder Alliance $119 early season, $159 from Dec. 14 through Apr. 4 Aiming for late October to early November Sunday through Friday, non-holiday; Cooper's page says to check back for blackout dates
Sunlight Direct reciprocal partner Lift tickets advertised "From $74" December 12 No blackout dates listed on Cooper's page

The Monarch row has the most dollar value attached. Three days at Monarch's $149 standard window rate come to $447 in lift tickets. Monarch's own 2026/27 partner list names Ski Cooper as a three-day partner. Monarch says agreements are still being finalized and that it plans to renew the same partners.

Sunlight's 2026-27 individual pass materials also list Ski Cooper among the resorts that offer extra free days, so the arrangement shows up on both sides. Sunlight's "From $74" is an advertised starting price for tickets, not a posted window rate. Treat it as the floor of what those three days are worth, not the typical price.

Loveland Is the Early-Season Bridge

The calendar is what makes the Loveland row matter more than its price.

Cooper's tentative opening day is Wednesday, December 9, 2026. On October 15, Loveland announced it had started snowmaking and said it is aiming to open between late October and early November, weather permitting. Last season it opened on November 8. Loveland's snowmaking system covers more than 240 acres, and the crew's first goal is one top-to-bottom run on a base of about 18 inches.

That puts roughly a month between Loveland's target and Cooper's first chair. Loveland's early-season window rate of $119 runs from opening through December 13, 2026. Three early-season Loveland days work out to $357 at the window. Add the $447 at Monarch and you get $804 in partner lift tickets, more than the $599 pass, before anyone counts a single day at Cooper.

The Powder Alliance limit is easy to live with in November. Loveland's three free days apply Sunday through Friday on non-holiday dates. Early-season weekdays are when Loveland days are easiest to use and Cooper isn't open yet anyway. Loveland also says the home resort sets eligibility, blackout dates and redemption rules, and asks visitors to bring a 2026-27 season pass.

How to Actually Redeem the Days

The partner days have one step that's easy to miss, and Cooper puts it in bold on its partner page.

  1. Buy the season pass in an age tier that includes partner benefits.
  2. Before your first partner trip, pick up your Partner Benefits card at the Cooper Guest Services window. Cooper says you have to do this before skiing at a partner resort.
  3. At the partner resort's ticket window, show your Cooper season pass, the Partner Benefits card and a photo ID.
  4. At Monarch, the first visit means a stop at the ticket window for an RFID card with a one-time $5 fee. All your eligible days load onto that card, and Monarch doesn't sell partner tickets online.
  5. Call ahead. Cooper notes that partner privileges can change without notice, that partner days don't apply on a partner's blackout dates, and that some resorts may ask for reservations or charge for an RFID card.

The benefits are tied to the pass holder and can't be transferred. Cooper also notes that more partners may be added before the season starts.

Where the Pass Holds Value at Home

Having the partner days stack up in early season doesn't make the pass any weaker on Tennessee Pass. Season pass holders get 10% off food and non-alcoholic drinks at Base Camp Café, Ridgeview Café, Katie O'Rourke's Irish Pub and the Timberline Taproom. They also get 10% off at the Timberline Trading Post on purchases of $15 or more, though the discount doesn't apply to sale items. Pass holders ages 15 to 68 can buy a discounted weekend or holiday buddy ticket, which Cooper lists at $79, one per day, with the buddy present at purchase.

That buddy price matters most on Cooper's priciest dates. Holiday and spring break pricing applies December 19, 2026 through January 3, 2027; January 15 to 17; February 12 to 14; and March 13 to 26, 2027. A friend skiing with you on any of those dates would otherwise pay the $99 window rate.

Cooper's events calendar also gives pass holders reasons to show up beyond the snow:

  • November 20: Warren Miller "Days Off" screening
  • December 9: Season-opening kickoff
  • February 26: 10th Mountain Day
  • March 17: St. Patrick's Day event at Katie O'Rourke's

The Spring Side of the Bet

Cooper's tentative closing day this season is Sunday, April 4, 2027. Last season's March 22 closing shows how a low-snow spring can cut that short. Loveland's regular season pricing runs through April 4, 2027 as well. Any partner days left over carry into spring as a backup for the next thin season.

Farther-Flung Partners for a Road Trip

The partner list keeps going well past Colorado. The Powder Alliance side includes Angel Fire, which it lists with no restrictions, along with Snow King in Wyoming and Bogus Basin in Idaho. Bogus Basin sits on both the Powder Alliance and Freedom Pass lists, also with no restrictions. Red River in New Mexico is on the Freedom Pass list. Some partners do post blackouts. Diamond Peak in Nevada, for example, excludes December 19, 2026 through January 3, 2027; January 16 to 18; and February 13 to 22, 2027. Check the partner page before planning a trip around a holiday weekend.

On the October price, the $599 Cooper pass covers Tennessee Pass all winter, three days at Monarch, three at Sunlight and three weekday days at Loveland, and the Loveland days can start as soon as Loveland opens.
